The GIMM – Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine is a pioneering Portuguese private research foundation with an ambitious vision for fundamental scientific exploration and its profound impact on global health and well-being. Founded in 2023, GIMM is the result of the merge of two leading research institutes: Instituto de Medicina Molecular João Lobo Antunes (iMM) and Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (IGC) and dedicates to unraveling the fundamental mysteries of life and aims to be at the forefront of transdisciplinary research. 

What GIMM seeks: At this moment, GIMM is looking for 2 (Two) Service Desk Technicians to join the Digital Technologies Platform coordinated by Maria Sá Guedes, under the research project LA/P/0082/2020 through National Funds (FCT-OE) to execute the following activities under the supervision of Maria Sá Guedes:

  1. Software and Hardware installation, configuration and management;
  2. Create and manage user roles and permissions;
  3. Hardware purchasing advisor;
  4. First-line user support.

Profile of Candidate

  1. Qualifications:
    1. Secondary Level with training in a relevant area or Technical Specialization Course, in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field;
    1. Proficiency in English language, oral and written.
  2. Essential Skills:
    1. Experience with Windows, MacOS, Linux (installing and configuration);
    1. Experience in assembling Computer Hardware and peripherals;
    1. Experience with configuring Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Apple Mail, OneDrive and Google Drive;
    1. Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, autonomy, and a proactive attitude, with resilience to perform well under pressure;
    1. Excellent organizational and time management abilities, task prioritization, and a strong sense of ethics and responsibility.
  3. Preferred Skills:
    1. BSc and/or MSc degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field;
    1. Experience in Remote Desktop;
    1. Experience with Microsoft Office from Admin perspective;
    1. Network Configuration and System Virtualization;
    1. Advanced knowledge in config. and optimization services in Linux;
    1. Active Directory management.

What GIMM offers: GIMM offers an outstanding working conditions including a full time and Unfixed-term employment contract predicted to start in June 2025 for the necessary period to execute the work plan. Gross monthly salary of 1.200,00€ in accordance with the project budget and internal regulations as well as Holidays and Christmas allowances subject to the current mandatory taxes accordingly to Portuguese Labor Law. A meal allowance will also be paid in the amount of 7,80€ per each working day.

Evaluation Criteria: Applications will be evaluated by Maria Guedes (President of the Jury), Pedro Cordeiro and João Garcia, in accordance with the following method:

  • 1st Phase: Curricular evaluation (50%) and Motivation Letter (20%);
  • 2nd Phase: Interview (30%). Only the candidates who score at least 50% in 1st Phase, will be selected for Interview. In case of a tie, the decision will be responsibility of the President of the Jury.

Results: Both admitted and excluded candidates list and final classification list shall be communicated to all admitted candidates through email.

Preliminary Hearing and Final Decision Deadline: After notification, all candidates have 10 working days to respond. Panel’s final decisions are pronounced within a period of 90 days, from application deadline.

The present call is exclusively aimed at filling the indicated vacancy and may be terminated until the homologation of the final candidates’ ranking list and expires with the respective occupation of the position on offer.
