This is a long-term position and involves assisting researchers with their Flow Cytometry experiments, performing cell sorting services, and implementing a service dedicated to companies. Prior experience working in an industry or diagnostic laboratory, with a focus on results and customer service, is required. Previous experience in Flow Cytometry is highly desired but not required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Flow Cytometry Specialist, you will be part of a great team and will have an opportunity to gain hands-on experience on our state-of-the-art analyzers and cell sorters, collaborate with researchers and customers in different areas, and to participate in projects involving high-parameter spectral cytometry, imaging flow cytometry and advanced data analysis approaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>The main responsibilities include:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a. Set up a service dedicated to companies, including: definition of workflows, optimization of sample process and acquisition protocols, and creation of a system for results emission and reporting;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b. Lead all experiments with Industry, ensuring quality standards and protocol compliance;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>c. Run Cell Sorters\/Analyzers to meet the needs of users;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>d. Purification of cell populations by flow cytometry (cell sorting);<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>e. Maintenance, quality control, and quality assurance of all flow cytometry instruments and experiments in the Facility;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>f. Provide comprehensive training in Flow Cytometry basic concepts and use of flow cytometry analyzers and cell sorters to researchers;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>g. Provide support and technical advice on flow cytometry, experimental design, panel design, protocol optimization, and execution to researchers;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>h. Provide training in imaging flow cytometry to researchers;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>i. Provide support in flow cytometry software and data analysis; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>j. Development of new cytometry protocols, according to the needs of each research project;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>k. Management of reports and data backups;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>l. General lab organization and administrative tasks;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>m. Participate in activities directed to internal and external people, such as courses, visits to the Facility or Flow Cytometry-related demonstrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Profile of Candidate:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are looking for a highly motivated person, passionate about science, interested in technology, eager to learn and to solve problems, with personal competencies to work in a service-based environment, with good inter-personal skills and a high degree of initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Mandatory Requirements:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:lower-alpha\">\n<li>MSc degree in Immunology, Biology, Chemistry or related field;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Previous experience working in an industry or diagnostic laboratory, with the emission of results, ensuring\u00a0 quality standards and protocol compliance;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Previous experience in polychromatic Flow Cytometry (user\u2019s level);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Previous experience with flow cytometry data analysis (e.g. FlowJo or similar software);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Extensive experience in a research lab, including handling samples from different origins;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interested in supporting scientific research and multiple projects;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comfortable working independently while also contributing actively within a collaborative team environment;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proactive, solution-oriented, and eager to troubleshoot and improve workflows;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple experiments and priorities simultaneously;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Able to independently lead and coordinate cytometry-focused projects from planning to completion;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Good communicator with strong written and spoken English skills;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comfortable working in a dynamic, international research setting;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Willing to learn, flexible, adaptable, and resilient;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong customer orientation;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Good communication skills and interaction in an environment with multiple users.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Desirable Requirements:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:lower-alpha\">\n<li>Expertise in polychromatic and spectral flow cytometry, including experience in panel design, sample acquisition, troubleshooting and analysis, will be highly considered.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Previous\u00a0 experience in cell separation by flow\u00a0 cytometry (Cell Sorting);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Previous experience in Imaging Flow Cytometry;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Previous experience in training and support in: instrument operation, protocol optimization, sample acquisition, panel design and data analysis;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Previous experience in troubleshooting technical and experimental issues using flow cytometry instruments;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge flow cytometry data analysis software (FACSDiva, SpectroFlo, INSPIRE, FlowJo, FCS Express, IDEAS, Cytolution and OMIQ) will be valued.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Please send your motivation letter in English (1 page), detailed CV (3 pages), and 2 references to People &amp; Culture through the e-mail <a href=\"mailto:positions@gimm.pt\">positions@gimm.pt<\/a>, identifying the job reference \u201cGIMM | Expression of Interest | Flow Cytometry Specialist 2\u201d in the subject from 9 April to 24 April 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>April 9th, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/gimm.pt\/pt-pt\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/jobs\/11261"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/gimm.pt\/pt-pt\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/jobs"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/gimm.pt\/pt-pt\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/jobs"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/gimm.pt\/pt-pt\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=11261"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
