Founded in 2023, GIMM is the result of the merge of two leading research institutes: Instituto de Medicina Molecular Jo\u00e3o Lobo Antunes (iMM) and Instituto Gulbenkian de Ci\u00eancia (IGC) and dedicates to unraveling the fundamental mysteries of life and aims to be at the forefront of transdisciplinary research.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What GIMM seeks<\/strong>: At this moment, GIMM is looking for a <strong>Postdoctoral Researcher<\/strong> to join the Laboratory coordinated by Claus Azzalin, under the research project \u201c<em>GENOME-PRUNING: Programmed genome pruning as a mechanism of long-term resilience in post-mitotic tissue<\/em>\u201dfunded by Core Funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Establishment of human post-mitotic myofibers and neuron cultures;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Analysis of genome stability and activation of inflammatory pathways in the aforementioned systems;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Analysis of telomere stability and telomere transcription in the aforementioned systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Profile of Candidate<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>PhD in cell biology, genetics or related fields;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proven experience in cell biology and molecular biology applied to mammalian cultured cells;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proven experience in high-end microscopy and image analysis, with experience in live cell imaging considered as a plus;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience and deep interest in genome stability maintenance, telomere biology, innate immunity and aging;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At least one first author paper published in a peer-reviewed journal;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proficiency in English, spoken and written;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Forward thinking, can-do, proactive attitude and career oriented;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>International scientific experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application Process:<\/strong> Applications must be formally submitted by sending the documents listed below in PDF format to the GIMM People &amp; Culture team at <strong>positions@gimm.pt<\/strong>, indicating the position reference in the subject line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following documents are mandatory for the application to be considered complete:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Motivation letter in English<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) in English<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>PhD degree certificate<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Name and contact details of at least two academic referees<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Any other documents the candidate considers relevant to demonstrate their scientific track record.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Candidates whose applications are incorrectly submitted or who fail to provide proof of the requirements established in this call within the specified deadlines will be excluded from the recruitment process.
