{"id":12481,"date":"2026-09-29T10:36:03","date_gmt":"2026-09-29T10:36:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gimm.pt\/?post_type=jobs&#038;p=12481"},"modified":"2026-10-01T17:59:23","modified_gmt":"2026-10-01T17:59:23","slug":"master-student-fellowship","status":"publish","type":"jobs","link":"https:\/\/gimm.pt\/pt-pt\/jobs\/master-student-fellowship\/","title":{"rendered":"Master Student Fellowship"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Reference GI MM\/BI\/33-2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine (GIMM) opens a call for one research fellowship under the project \u201c<em><strong>The impact of germline metabolic reprogramming on reproduction and physiology<\/strong><\/em>\u201d with the funding support from European Union. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Scientific Area(s)<\/strong>: Metabolism and Physiology<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fellowship recipients \/ Admission requirements<\/strong> (indicate mandatory and preferential requirements): Any National, foreign and stateless candidate(s) that fulfill the necessary conditions to be enrolled in a non -academic degree course (in a rea related to the work plan) can apply. Are considered \u201cNon-academic degree courses\u201d the ones referred in paragraph e) of number 3 of article 4 of Decree-Law nr 74\/2006, from 24th March, in its current version, as long as they are developed in association and cooperation between a higher education institution and at least one R&amp;D Unit in accordance with the provisions of paragraph e) of Article 3 of FCT Fellowship Regulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Applicants must hold the following requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Degree in Biochemistry;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Knowledge and in-depth training in Nutritional Biochemistry, Metabolism and Bioenergetics;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Laboratory experience;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Experience in genetics and manipulation of fruit fly (Drosophila Melanogaster);<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Motivation and interest in science;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Collaborative spirit and good communication skills;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Meticulousness;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Autonomy;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Fluency in English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Desirable requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Experience in acquisition and analysis of confocal microscopy images.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The international experience of the candidates, not constituting a decisive criterion for the selection, will be valued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Work Plan and Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Maintenance and generation of Drosophila stocks<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Genotyping<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Dissection of Drosophila tissues<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Immunofluorescence and confical microscopy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Image analysis and data quantification<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Legislation and Applicable Regulation: <\/strong>Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investiga\u00e7\u00e3o (Lei n.\u00ba 40\/2004, de 18 de Agosto, republished in attachment to Decreto-Lei n.\u00ba 202\/2012, de 27 de Agosto, changed by Decretos-Leis n.\u00ba 123\/2019, 28 de Agostoe n\u00ba 65\/2024, 1 de outubro) and current Regulation of Fellowships of GIMM. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Predicted start date, duration and renewal conditions<\/strong>: The fellowship contract is predicted to start in October 2026, for a period of 12(twelve) months on an exclusive basis, eventually renewable until the maximum stipulated in applicable regulations, not exceeding the eligibility period of the project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Workplace and Scientific orientation:<\/strong> The research activities will be developed at Zita CarvalhoSantos Lab of GI MM, under the supervision of Catarina Br\u00e1s Pereira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Non-discrimination and equal access policy: <\/strong>GI MM undertakes to ensure compliance with the principles of non -discrimination and equality and to that extent, provides that no candidate can be privileged, benefited, harmed or deprived of any right or exempted from any duty due in particular ancestry, age, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, family status, economic status, education, social origin or condition, genetic heritage, reduced working capacity, disability, chronic disease, nationality, ethnic origin or race, place of origin, language, rel igion, political or ideological convictions and trade union membership. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>International environment and experience<\/strong>: Diversity is a fundam ental aspect of the essence of GIMM, where researchers and non-researchers of different nationalities, backgrounds and areas of study work together, promoting the exchange of experiences and interactions, contributing to the personal and professional development of each person and to the existence of an international, inclusive and stimulating environment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Research Fellows Support Centre<\/strong>: The Research Fellows Support C entre works everyday from 09:00AM to 11:00AM at People &amp; Culture Unit Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fellowship financial conditions<\/strong>: The fellow will benefit from a monthly stipend in the amount of <strong>1090.98\u20ac.<\/strong> The amount will be paid by wire transfer at the end of each month. The fellow will also benefit from a personal accident insurance to execute the proposed research activities as well as the right to Social Security through Voluntary Social Insurance re gimen, if wanted, under the terms  of C\u00f3digo dos Regimes Contributivos do Sistema Previdencial de Seguran\u00e7a Social, and th e contributions costs will be supported by the research project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application documents<\/strong>: &#8211; Motivation Letter ; &#8211; Detailed CV ; Bsc certificate (please check the<br>\u201cNOT E\u201d in Fellowship recipients ); &#8211; Candidate\u2019s declaration of honor indicating previous<br>fellowships, if any, its typology and duration. The non-compliance with these requirements<br>determines the immediate rejection of the application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In case the applicant does not have yet the required degree certificate, a declaration of honor<br>stating the conclusion of the necessary qualifications for the purposes of this process will be<br>accepted and must be sent by the end date of the call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jury evaluation and selection<\/strong>: Catarina Pereira , Patr\u00edcia Francisco e Zita Carvalho -Santos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Selection methods<\/strong>: Curricular Evaluation (50%) and Motivation Letter (50%);<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deadlines and application process<\/strong> : The call will be open from September 30 until October 14,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications should be submitted to People &amp; Culture Unit, through the email people@gimm.pt with \u201c<strong>GIMM\/BI\/33-2026<\/strong>\u201d in the subject . The non -compliance with these requirements determines the immediate rejection of the application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Notification of results<\/strong>: Within 90 days after the termination of the applications submission deadline, both admitted and excluded candidates list and final classification list shall be communicated to all admitted candidates through email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Preliminary Hearing and Final Decision Deadline<\/strong> : After notifi cation, all candidates have 10 working days to respond.
