CALL FOR A RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fellowship Reference GIMM\/BI\/11-2024<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine (GIMM) opens a call for one research fellowship under the project \u201cDNA methylation markers to predict treatment success of biologicals in Crohn\u2019s disease<\/strong>\u201d<\/em>, with the funding support from Horizon-Europe.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scientific Area(s): <\/strong>Rheumatology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fellowship recipients \/ Admission requirements<\/strong>: Any National, foreign and stateless candidate(s) that fulfill the necessary conditions to be enrolled in a non-academic degree course (in area related to the work plan) can apply.  Are considered \u201cNon-academic degree courses\u201d the ones referred in paragraph e) of number 3 of article 4 of Decree-Law nr 74\/2006, from 24th<\/sup> March<\/a>, in its current version, as long as they are developed in association and cooperation between a higher education institution and at least one R&D Unit in accordance with the provisions of paragraph e) of Article 3 of FCT Fellowship Regulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applicants must hold the following requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– MSc holder in Life Sciences;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– <\/em>Experience and independence with molecular biology techniques;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Experience and independence with cell culture;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Experience with human biological sample manipulation;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Spoken and written English proficiency;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Experience in projects in the field of Rheumatology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Work Plan and Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Processing and analysis of human biological samples;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Coordination of Clinical Study in the area of Rheumatology;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Support on the submission of the study to the regulatory entities;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Management and processing of clinical data;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Support on the identification of patients with inclusion criteria for the study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Legislation and Applicable Regulation: <\/strong>Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investiga\u00e7\u00e3o (Lei n.\u00ba 40\/2004, de 18 de Agosto, republished in attachment to Decreto-Lei n.\u00ba 202\/2012, de 27 de Agosto, changed by Decretos-Leis n.\u00ba 123\/2019, 28 de Agosto e n\u00ba 65\/2024, 1 de outubro<\/em><\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Predicted start date, duration and renewal conditions: <\/strong>The fellowship contract is predicted to start onJanuary 2025, for a period of twelve (12) months on an exclusive basis, eventually renewable until the maximum stipulated in applicable regulations, not exceeding the eligibility period of the project (expected to end on December 31, 2026).  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Workplace and Scientific orientation: <\/strong>The research activities will be developed at Jo\u00e3o Eurico Fonseca Lab of GIMM, under the supervision of Bruno Vidal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Research Fellows Support Centre: <\/strong>The Research Fellows Support Centre works everyday from 09:00AM to 11:00AM at People & Culture Unit Office.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fellowship financial conditions: <\/strong>The fellow will benefit from a monthly stipend in the amount of \u20ac1259.64<\/strong>. The amount will be paid by wire transfer at the end of each month. The fellow will also benefit from a personal accident insurance to execute the proposed research activities as well as the right to Social Security through Voluntary Social Insurance regimen, if wanted, under the terms of C\u00f3digo dos Regimes Contributivos do Sistema Previdencial de Seguran\u00e7a Social, and the contributions costs will be supported by the research project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Application documents: <\/strong>– Motivation Letter; – Detailed CV; – MSc certificate. The non-compliance with these requirements determines the immediate rejection of the application.<\/em><\/strong>
In case the applicant does not have yet the required degree certificate, a declaration of honor stating the conclusion of the necessary qualifications for the purposes of this process will be accepted and must be sent by the end date of the call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jury evaluation and selection: <\/strong>The applications will be reviewed by a jury composed by Jo\u00e3o Eurico Fonseca (FMUL\/ GIMM), \u00c2ngelo Calado (FMUL\/GIMM) and Bruno Vidal (GIMM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selection methods:<\/strong> <\/strong>Curricular evaluation (45%), Motivation letter (5%), and interview (50%). Only candidates that score at least 40% on the curricular evaluation and motivational letter will be selected for interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deadlines and application process:<\/strong> The call will be open from December 9 until December 20, 2024.<\/u><\/strong> Applications should be submitted to People & Culture Unit, through the email people@gimm.pt<\/a>. Non-compliance with these requirements determines the immediate rejection of the application.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notification of results: <\/strong>Within 90 days after the termination of the applications submission deadline, both admitted and excluded candidates list and final classification list shall be communicated to all admitted candidates through email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Preliminary Hearing and Final Decision Deadline: <\/strong>After notification, all candidates have 10 working days to respond. Panel\u2019s final decisions are pronounced within a period of 90 days, from application deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fellowship contracting: <\/strong>The Fellowship is granted through the signature of a contract between GIMM and the selected fellow and after the fellow send the following mandatory documents: copy of identification document (in case of non-European citizens is mandatory the work visa \/ valid resident permit), document proving the required academic degree and the document proving the enrollment in a MSc or non-academic degree course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For each Fellowship period an Activity Report must be prepared by the fellow as well as the Report by the supervisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
