Founded in 2023, GIMM is the result of the merge of two leading research institutes: Instituto de Medicina Molecular Jo\u00e3o Lobo Antunes (iMM) and Instituto Gulbenkian de Ci\u00eancia (IGC) and dedicates to unraveling the fundamental mysteries of life and aims to be at the forefront of transdisciplinary research.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What GIMM seeks<\/strong>: At this moment, GIMM is looking for a Lab Technician to join the Maria Mota Laboratory coordinated by Maria Mota, under the research project <strong><em>\u201cPlasmodium liver stage schizogony: high replication and genetic diversity\u201d <\/em><\/strong>funded by European Commission, to execute the following activities under the supervision of Maria Mota:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Rodent colony management;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>In vivo<\/em> malaria infections and follow-up;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Laboratory techniques including: immunophenotyping; flow-cytometry acquisition and data analysis; fluorescence-activated single cell sorting; basic analysis of metabolomic data sets; cell culture techniques and; gene expression quantification by real time quantitative PCR.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Profile of Candidate<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mandatory requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>MSc degree holder in in the field of Biology or related;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent knowledge of English, spoken and written<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Desirable requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Prior experience in rodent models and holding a Laboratory Animal Science license;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prior experience with the above mentioned laboratory techniques.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attention to detail, ability to follow protocols precisely and to accurately record experimental data;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong teamwork and communication skills;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Willingness to learn new techniques and adapt to evolving research needs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What GIMM offers<\/strong>: GIMM offers outstanding working conditions including a full time and unfixed-term employment contract predicted to start in May 2025 for the necessary period to execute the work plan. Gross monthly salary of 1.200,00\u20ac in accordance with the project budget and internal regulations as well as Holidays and Christmas allowances subject to the current mandatory taxes accordingly to Portuguese Labor Law. Candidates must declare, on their honour, their respective disability degree, type of disability and communication \/ expression means to be used during selection period on their application form, under the regulations above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Evaluation Criteria<\/strong>: Applications will be evaluated by Maria Manuel Mota (President of the Jury), \u00c2ngelo Ferreira Chora and Sofia Marques (all PhD\u2019s), in accordance with the following method:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>1<sup>st<\/sup> Phase: Curricular evaluation (50%) and Motivation Letter (20%);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2<sup>nd<\/sup> Phase: Interview (30%). Only candidates with a score of at least 50% in the 1<sup>st<\/sup> Phase will be selected for Interview.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Results<\/strong>: Both admitted and excluded candidates list and final classification list shall be communicated to all admitted candidates through email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Preliminary Hearing and Final Decision Deadline: <\/strong>After notification, all candidates have 10 working days to respond.
