{"id":8955,"date":"2025-07-09T13:24:46","date_gmt":"2025-07-09T13:24:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gimm.pt\/?post_type=jobs&#038;p=8955"},"modified":"2025-07-09T13:24:47","modified_gmt":"2025-07-09T13:24:47","slug":"2-two-research-fellowships","status":"publish","type":"jobs","link":"https:\/\/gimm.pt\/pt-pt\/jobs\/2-two-research-fellowships\/","title":{"rendered":"2 (Two) Research Fellowships"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><u>Fellowship References GIMM\/BI\/34a-2025 and GIMM\/BI\/34b-2025<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine (GIMM) opens a call for 2 (two) Research Fellowships designated <strong>\u201cNOS Alive \u2013 GIMM 2025 Research Fellowship\u201d<\/strong>, within the scope of the partnership established between the GIMM Foundation \u2013 Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine (GIMM) and Everything is New, the promoter of the NOS Alive. For this call, the GIMM Foundation is offering four research projects in different scientific areas. The two selected candidates will have the opportunity to choose which project they wish to develop. These fellowships are funded by Everything is New, under the following conditions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Scientific Area(s): <\/strong>Biology and Life and Health Sciences<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fellowship recipients \/ Admission requirements<\/strong><em>: <\/em>Any National, foreign and stateless candidate(s) that fulfill the necessary conditions to be enrolled in a non-academic degree course (in area related to the work plan) can apply.&nbsp; Are considered \u201cNon-academic degree courses\u201d the ones referred in <a href=\"https:\/\/dre.pt\/web\/guest\/legislacao-consolidada\/-\/lc\/122033591\/202004021256\/73697372\/diploma\/indice?q=Decreto-Lei+n.%C2%BA74%2F2006\">paragraph e) of number 3 of article 4 of Decree-Law nr 74\/2006, from 24<sup>th<\/sup> March<\/a>, in its current version, as long as they are developed in association and cooperation between a higher education institution and at least one R&amp;D Unit in accordance with the provisions of paragraph e) of Article 3 of FCT Fellowship Regulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants must hold the following requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Holder of a Bachelor&#8217;s and\/or Master&#8217;s degree in Biology or a related field (mandatory requirement), with the most recent degree completed after January 2021;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Excellent command of spoken and written English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Work Plan and Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Project 1: \u201cHow inflammatory cytokines rewire cardiac RNA splicing in aging\u201d (Annex 1);<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Project 2: \u201cMechanistic Links between RNA Splicing Deterioration and Cellular Senescence\u201d (Annex 1);<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Project 3: \u201cTargeting immune-stem cell interactions in aging to restore organ health\u201d (Annex 1);<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Project 4: \u201cAGEWISE: Unravelling the Gut-Hormone Axis in Women&#8217;s Ageing\u201d (Annex 1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Legislation and Applicable Regulation: <\/strong><\/em>Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investiga\u00e7\u00e3o (Lei n.\u00ba 40\/2004, de 18 de Agosto, republished in attachment to Decreto-Lei n.\u00ba 202\/2012, de 27 de Agosto, changed by <strong><em>Decretos-Leis n.\u00ba 123\/2019, 28 de Agosto e n\u00ba <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>65\/2024, 1 de outubro<\/em><\/strong>) and current Regulation of Fellowships of GIMM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Predicted start date, duration and renewal conditions: <\/strong>The fellowship contract is predicted to start inJanuary 2026, for a period of 12 (twelve) months on an exclusive basis, non-renewable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Work place and Scientific orientation: <\/strong>The research work will be carried out in one of the following laboratories at GIMM, with the possibility of conducting part of the work (maximum of two months) in a laboratory abroad:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Sousa-Victor, Aging &amp; Tissue Repair (<a href=\"https:\/\/gimm.pt\/lab\/neves-sousa-victor-lab\/\">https:\/\/gimm.pt\/lab\/neves-sousa-victor-lab\/<\/a>);<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Project 4: Ana Santos Almeida, Microbiome in Health &amp; Culture Unit Office.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fellowship financial conditions: <\/strong>The fellow will benefit from a monthly stipend in the amount of1.309,64\u20ac while in Portugal and 2.118,65\u20ac while abroad, in accordance with the applicable regulations. The amount will be paid by wire transfer at the end of each month. The fellow will also benefit from a personal accident insurance to execute the proposed research activities as well as the right to Social Security through Voluntary Social Insurance regimen, if wanted, under the terms of C\u00f3digo dos Regimes Contributivos do Sistema Previdencial de Seguran\u00e7a Social, and the contributions costs will be supported by the research project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application documents: <\/strong>&#8211; Motivation Letter; &#8211; Detailed CV; &#8211; BSc and\/or MSc certificate; &#8211; Contact of 1 reference; &#8211; Candidate\u2019s declaration of honor indicating previous fellowships, if any, its typology and duration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>The non-compliance with these requirements determines the immediate rejection of the application.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In case the applicant does not have yet the required degree certificate, a declaration of honor stating the conclusion of the necessary qualifications for the purposes of this process will be accepted and must be sent by the end date of the call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jury evaluation and selection: <\/strong>The applications will be evaluated by a selection panel composed of the following members:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Maria Carmo-Fonseca, Group Leader, Gulbenkian Institute of Molecular Medicine (FMUL,GIMM)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Joel Perez-Perri, Group Leader, Gulbenkian Institute of Molecular Medicine (GIMM)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Joana Neves, Group Leader, Gulbenkian Institute of Molecular Medicine (GIMM)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Pedro Sousa-Victor, Group Leader, Gulbenkian Institute of Molecular Medicine (GIMM)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Ana Santos Almeida, Group Leader, Gulbenkian Institute of Molecular Medicine (GIMM)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Selection methods: The evaluation of applications and respective selection will be based on the following methods<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Document Evaluation (50%)<\/strong> \u2013 In this phase, the candidates\u2019 Curriculum Vitae and motivation letter will be assessed on a scale from 0 to 10. Only candidates who score above 7 in this phase will be invited for an interview.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Interview (50%)<\/strong> \u2013 The selected candidates for this phase will be evaluated, also on a scale from 0 to 10.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The final score will result from the weighted average of the two phases (document evaluation and interview), each accounting for 50% of the total. The 2 (two) highest-ranked candidates will subsequently be invited to choose the research project they wish to develop, in order of ranking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deadlines and application process:<\/strong> The period to submit applicants starts on 10\/07\/2025 and ends on 10\/09\/2025. Applications must include all documents identified in <strong><em>\u201cApplication documents\u201d<\/em><\/strong> section in a sole PDF document titled \u201c<em>CandidateName<\/em>_BolsaNOSAlive2025.pdf\u201d. Alternatively, the reference letter may be sent directly by the referee(s). Applications should be submitted to the GIMM People &amp; Culture Unit via email at <a href=\"mailto:positions@gimm.pt\">positions@gimm.pt<\/a>. The email subject line must include the reference \u201cBolsaNOSAlive2025\u201d_<strong>GIMM\/BI\/34a-2025 and GIMM\/BI\/34b-2025. <\/strong>&nbsp;<strong><em>The non-compliance with these requirements determines the immediate rejection of the application.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Notification of results: <\/strong>Within 90 days after the termination of the applications submission deadline, both admitted and excluded candidates list and final classification list shall be communicated to all admitted candidates through email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Preliminary Hearing and Final Decision Deadline: <\/strong>After notification, all candidates have 10 working days to respond.
