Um campo de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o muito interessante e em r\u00e1pido crescimento.<\/p>\n\n<p>O nosso foco s\u00e3o as interac\u00e7\u00f5es directas entre os sinais das bact\u00e9rias intestinais e os neur\u00f3nios do c\u00e9rebro. Ilana demonstrou, no seu p\u00f3s-doutoramento, que os compostos derivados de micr\u00f3bios se encontram no c\u00e9rebro e s\u00e3o capazes de influenciar a atividade neuronal. Al\u00e9m disso, algumas destas interac\u00e7\u00f5es dependem do sexo e da idade (Gabanyi et al., Science 2022).<\/p>\n\n<p>O laborat\u00f3rio est\u00e1 atualmente a investigar quest\u00f5es intrigantes de seguimento derivadas deste trabalho:<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li>Que factores (por exemplo, hormonas) influenciam a resposta neuronal aos produtos bacterianos?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Como e que sinais bacterianos s\u00e3o capazes de chegar ao c\u00e9rebro e alterar a atividade neuronal?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Quais s\u00e3o as respostas a jusante a estas altera\u00e7\u00f5es neuronais induzidas por bact\u00e9rias?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>A equipa de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o combina t\u00e9cnicas de diferentes campos, incluindo imagens cerebrais em 3D, sequencia\u00e7\u00e3o microbiana e ratinhos transg\u00e9nicos, para dissecar os mecanismos de liga\u00e7\u00e3o entre microbiota e
