Open Call for Postdoctoral Researcher – Reference GIMM/CT/35-2026

The GIMM – Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine is a pioneering Portuguese private research
foundation with an ambitious vision for fundamental scientific exploration and its profound impact on
global health and well-being. Founded in 2023, GI MM is the result of the merge of two leading research
institutes: Instituto de Medicina Molecular João Lobo Antunes (iMM ) and Instituto Gulbenkian de
Ciência (IGC) and dedicates to unraveling the fundamental mysteries of life and aims to be at the
forefront of transdisciplinary research.

What GIMM seeks: At this moment, GIMM is hiring a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Chemical
Biology-Translational Research Lines -Care , coordinated by Ana Guerreiro , under the research project
HORIZON -EIC -2025-PATHFINDER VacciNEXT , funded by European Union , to execute the following
activities under the supervision of the project coordinator:
a) Execution of preclinical studies using murine tumour models;
b) Evaluation of vaccine efficacy, immune responses and antitumour activity;
c) Performance of immunological assays, including flow cytometry, ELISA and other immune
monitoring techniques;
d) Contribution to dissemination activities, preparation of scientific outputs related to the project,
project deliverables, and participation in consortium meetings.

Candidate’s Profile
Mandatory Requirements:
a) PhD degree in Immunology, Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences or a related field.
b) Proven research experience in immunology, cancer immunology, immunotherapy, vaccine
development or related fields (minimum 3 years)
c) Experience with murine models and animal experimentation (minimum 2 years)
d) Excellent command of spoken and written English
Desirable Requirements :
a) Experience in mouse models of cancer.
b) Experience with flow cytometry.
c) Experience with ELISA, ELISpot and other immunological assays.
d) Experience in cell culture and immune cell isolation.
e) Experience in preclinical evaluation of vaccines and/or immunotherapies.
f) FELASA certification (or equivalent training in laboratory animal science).
g) Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international multidisciplinary team

What GI MM offers: GI MM offers outstanding working conditions , including a full-time and unfixed –
term employment contract predicted to start in October 2026 for the necessary period to execute the
work plan. Gross monthly salary of €2400 in accordance with the project budget and internal regulations,
as well as Holidays and Christmas allowances subject to the current mandatory taxes , accordingly to
Portuguese Labor Law. A meal allowance will also be paid in the amount of 10.20€ per working day.

Evaluation Criteria : Applications will be evaluated by Ana Guerreiro, Gonçalo Bernardes e Cong Tang ,
in accordance with the following method: Curricular Evaluation (80%) and Motivation Letter ( 20%);

Results: Both admitted and excluded candidates list and final classification list shall be communicated
to all admitted candidates through email.

Preliminary Hearing and Final Decision Deadline: After notification, all candidates have 10 working
days to respond. Panel’s final decisions are pronounced within a period of 90 days, from application
deadline.
The present call is exclusively aimed at filling the indicated vacancy and may be terminated until the
homologation of the final candidates’ ranking list and expires with the respective occupation of the
position on offer.
