On 21 and 22 October 2026, GIMM will host the first edition of the Science and Space Symposium, at the João Lobo Antunes Main Auditorium, Egas Moniz Building, Lisbon.
Organised by GIMM and GIMM CARE, in collaboration with the Lisbon School of Medicine, the European Space Agency and the Portuguese Space Agency, the symposium will bring together researchers, clinicians and experts from the space sector to explore how biomedical research can help address the challenges of human space exploration.
Across two days, the programme will cover topics including ageing, the microbiome, radiation and thrombosis, through scientific sessions, keynote lectures, poster presentations and discussions with national and international experts.
The programme will also include a public round table exploring the links between space research and human health, as well as the scientific questions that need to be addressed as humans venture further into space.
Registration is mandatory, with standard tickets available for €50 and student tickets for €25, both providing access to the full two-day programme.
