Institutional Projects

GIMM’s institutional projects represent structuring initiatives that strengthen our mission, identity, and contribution to society. They are highly diverse projects, spanning activities from people development and technological modernisation to scientific innovation and public engagement. As fundamental elements of our work, it is important to make these projects visible, as well as GIMM’s commitment to quality and innovation, social responsibility, and the creation of collective value.

ObjectivesDevelopment of a Natural Language Processing (NLP) infrastructure supported by Large Language Models (LLMs) to automate the extraction and structuring of data from unstructured text within a biobank context, aligning it with established biomedical ontologies.
DescriptionThe project aims to develop an innovative solution to transform unstructured clinical and biomedical information into normalised, interoperable, and semantically enriched data.

Drawing on large-scale language models (LLMs) and reference biomedical ontologies, automatic mechanisms for concept extraction, semantic annotation, and alignment between different controlled vocabularies will be created.

The project aims to facilitate information sharing between institutions and strengthen data reuse in biomedical research, precision medicine, and the development of advanced predictive health analytics models.
