GIMM was born from the merger of two leading research institutes: Instituto de Medicina Molecular João Lobo Antunes (iMM) and Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (IGC).

This union strengthens research through the integration of new skills, teams, and scientific platforms.

As part of this merger, the iMM Biobank has become GIMM Biobank.

This name and image change does not alter our purpose. The Biobank’s mission, activity, and commitment remain the same, and GIMM intends to continue them.

In this context, GIMM would like to communicate an update in contact information and clarify that we guarantee that patients and citizens who have donated biological samples will continue to be able to exercise their rights, namely the right to information, withdrawal of consent, access, rectification, erasure, limitation, and portability within legal limits. To exercise these rights or for any questions, GIMM provides the contact of the Biobank Coordinator, Dr. Ângela Afonso, through the following email address biobank@gimm.pt.

We would like to clarify that iMM as an autonomous entity will cease to exist and that GIMM assumes the role of Data Controller inherited from iMM. Therefore, GIMM also provides the contact of GIMM’s Data Protection Officer, Dr. Rita Pereira Coutinho, through the following email address: dpo@gimm.pt.
