GIMM CARE Seeks Volunteers for Gut Microbiome Research Studies

GIMM CARE is calling for volunteers to participate in two clinical studies focused on the gut microbiome and its role in human health. Recruitment is open until 15 June 2026

The gut microbiome – the community of microorganisms living in our intestines – plays a crucial role in metabolic, immunological, and hormonal health. These studies aim to improve our understanding of how changes in the microbiome can influence different health conditions, and to support the development of new prevention and early diagnosis strategies.

The two studies currently recruiting participants are:
AGEWISE – Investigating the relationship between menopause and the gut microbiome
GUTBIOME-PT – Exploring the connection between the gut microbiome and colorectal cancer risk

Participation is voluntary and involves completing digital questionnaires, a blood collection, an at-home stool sample self-collection, and a nutrition phone call – making it a straightforward and accessible way to contribute to cutting-edge research.

This is a unique opportunity to play an active role in advancing microbiome research in Portugal and helping scientists better understand how the gut microbiome influences health across different life stages and conditions.
