The GIMM Foundation has begun a partnership with CA Vida insurance, part of the Crédito Agrícola Group, to support scientific research. This collaboration is aimed at supporting the work of Ana Magalhães, a researcher at GIMM in the translational research laboratory Advanced Breast Cancer Lab.
As part of this partnership, several initiatives are planned to bring Science closer to society. In October, Ana Magalhães conducted an awareness-raising talk for employees of the Crédito Agrícola Group, highlighting the importance of scientific research in combating disease. The event had significant attendance and engagement.
In November, a different initiative was carried out: over the course of three days, a team from the GIMM Biobank visited CA Vida’s offices to collect blood samples. The initiative saw the participation of 86 employees, who embraced this opportunity to concretely support Science. These 86 collections resulted in 344 plasma samples, 344 serum samples, and 86 DNA samples.
With a planned duration of one year, this partnership is expected to generate new activities and joint projects, further strengthening the role of civil society in advancing scientific research. This is
an inspiring example of how such initiatives can connect everyday citizens to the work of scientists and foster greater appreciation for Science in society.
