Last Wednesday marked the conclusion of the third phase of the 2025 edition of Ciência di Noz Manera (CNM), an initiative that brings together scientists from the GIMM Foundation and the Champalimaud Foundation with students from schools in underprivileged contexts.

Over the course of six weeks, scientists visited the two participating schools weekly, taking on the role of mentors to small groups of interested students. Each group explored specific scientific topics, chosen based on the students’ curiosity and motivation.

At Escola Básica do Alto do Lumiar, the topics covered were Marine Animals, Cancer, and How Drugs Affect Our Brain. The approach was marked by creativity and direct engagement between researchers and students, fostering scientific curiosity.

The initiative was made possible thanks to the dedication of 10 volunteer scientists, whose commitment was essential to the project’s success. This experience is believed to have a positive impact on the students’ future, showing that science can be accessible, inspiring, and fun.
