What iMM seeks: At this moment, iMM is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Immune Regulation Laboratory coordinated by Marc Veldhoen to execute the following activities under the supervision of Marc Veldhoen:

  • Biochemical assays
  • Western blots
  • Subcellular fractionations
  • Metabolic and mitochondrial assays
  • Immuno precipitations
  • Cell culture
  • Microscopy (LM/EM)
  • Metabolic assays
  • Flow cytometry

Profile of Candidate

– PhD in Biochemistry, Immunology, Cell biology or related life-sciences discipline;

– Experience in Biochemistry;

– Experience in Cell culture;

– Experience in enzymatic, mitochondrial and metabolic assays;

– Excellent informatics skills;

– Proficient in English, spoken and written;

– Good managing skills, and efficiency;

– A proven track record in research design and execution;

– Forward thinking, independent, can-do, pro-active attitude;

– The experience in immunology, flow cytometry and use of animal models, although not a determining factor will be valued;

– The international experience of the candidates, although not a determining criterion for selection, will be valued.

What iMM offers: iMM will offer outstanding working conditions in this area in Portugal, including a full-time contract, starting predictably in September or October 2024, and the possibility to work in the interface of research.  

Working Conditions: Unfixed-Termemployment contract with an estimated duration of 12 (twelve) months; Annual gross salary of 32.000€, approximately (includes base salary and meal allowance), in accordance with the funding budget and iMM Career By-Law, as well as Holidays and Christmas allowances subject to the current

mandatory taxes accordingly to Portuguese Labor Law.

Please note that the job opportunity announced here is under the entity of the Instituto de Medicina Molecular João Lobo Antunes (iMM) and will result in a contractual relationship with the new entity, GIMM – Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine.

Evaluation Criteria: Applications will be evaluated by Vânia Cardoso, Vanessa Morais and Marc Veldhoen (all PhD’S), in accordance with the following method:

  • 1st Phase: Curricular evaluation (50%) and Motivation Letter (20%);
  • 2nd Phase: Interview (30%). The jury will only select for the interview the candidates who score at least 45% in 1st phase.

Results: Both admitted and excluded candidates list and final classification list shall be communicated to all admitted candidates through email.

Preliminary Hearing and Final Decision Deadline: After notification, all candidates have 10 working days to respond. Panel’s final decisions are pronounced within a period of 90 days, from application deadline.

The present call is exclusively aimed at filling the indicated vacancy and may be terminated until the homologation of the final candidates’ ranking list and expires with the respective occupation of the position on offer.
