GIMM is recruiting a Training Programme Manager under an Employment Contract

The GIMM – Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine is a pioneering Portuguese private research foundation with an ambitious vision for fundamental scientific exploration and its profound impact on global health and well-being. Founded in 2023, GIMM is the result of the merge of two leading research institutes: Instituto de Medicina Molecular João Lobo Antunes (iMM) and Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (IGC) and dedicates to unraveling the fundamental mysteries of life and aims to be at the forefront of transdisciplinary research. 

What GIMM seeks: GIMM is looking for a Training Programme Manager to join our Training and Education Unit.

The Education and Training Unit is dedicated to fostering scientific careers, providing essential tools for researchers and scientific support staff to excel in academia, industry, and healthcare sectors.

Work Plan activities

1. Identify training needs of researchers and collaborators, through surveys and interviews, in collaboration with the People and Culture unit.
2. Articulate with other GIMM units to ensure the integration of training programs into a coherent structure, standardizing the typology of offerings.
3. Develop schedules and budgets for training programs.
4. Define evaluation criteria for programs and participants.
5. Develop training content, in collaboration with laboratories and units.
6. Coordinate and support internal trainers, as well as select and hire external trainers, when necessary.
7. Manage the resources used in training programs.
8. Monitor the execution of programs, ensuring they are running as planned.
9. Monitor participant progress and provide feedback.
10. Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs.
11. Analyze evaluation results and identify areas for improvement.
12. Prepare reports on the results of training programs.
13. Perform other tasks related to training, as necessary for the proper functioning of the programs.

Profile of Candidate

1. Master degree (MSc) and/or PhD degree in a relevant scientific or educational field, with demonstrable experience or interest in health, biomedical sciences, or education.
2. Experience in training and development, or a related field, including in content creation.
3. Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design.
4. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including researchers, trainees, and administrative staff.
5. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
6. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
7. Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects simultaneously.

What GIMM offers: GIMM offers outstanding working conditions including a full-time and Unfixed-term employment contract predicted to start in April 2025 for a predicted duration of 12 (twelve) months and maximum duration of 48 (forty-eight) months. A gross monthly salary of between 2.200,00€ and 2.800,00€, depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate, will be offered, as well as Holidays and Christmas allowances subject to the current mandatory taxes accordingly to Portuguese Labor Law. A meal allowance will also be paid in the amount of 7,80€ per each working day.
